Inside the car where the cable passes through the large hole then goes up to the small retainer hole,am I missing a clip or some type of retainer??I have the small sheet metal retainer that goes against the firewall to secure the plastic push thru.Just looks like a retainer is missing on the cable

if you are referring to the end that connects the cable to the pedal?
there is a small plastic plug that goes into the larger hole
cable will go to the smaller hole.

O.K. It’s the plastic plug that I am missing!!! Maybe a small stainless screw will get er done so the cable can’t hop out.
Thanks Again. POPS

A bic pen top plug is similar and may work if you have an old one laying around. If it don't work and you need one let me know i have originals
