I doubt the guys in the day in the factory spent anywhere near the amount of time assembling that you guys do today. You need to remember that you are building a piece of MACHINERY - not just and engine/transmission.
/rear end. Yes - they had all the tools to do it efficiently on an ASSEMBLY LINE - everyone that can rebuild one of these has spent hours upon hours figuring out what took 42 seconds on the line. Kudos to all of you for being so meticulous. I rebuilt automatic transmissions in the 80's-90's. 904, 727, th350, th 400. Each is different but it is a MACHINE! Thinking that way made it easier to build
Automated machines was the ticket but in a one on one assembly, the time cost is up there and more so with the China made parts. I found that out the hard way and as I got older it got to be a pita. They didn't have to. The jigs, fixtures, assembly process was almost foolproof so mistakes were minimal. Now we try and duplicate the process. And therein is the quality of the rebuild.
The wording of the title sounds funny.Automated machines was the ticket but in a one on one assembly, the time cost is up there and more so with the China made parts. I found that out the hard way and as I got older it got to be a pita.
I was thinking the same thing. Are we talking diffs?![]()

I agree. Seems like today’s value is way less. 2x4 lumber was less than a dollar, for example.I seems more like $188 in 2000 is only worth $100 nowadays. Like in 2000 a $100 oil pan now costs $188 ???? Or am I on drugs? I do feel dizzy when I pull out my wallet sometimes. LOL!
Yup.....takes almost twice the money today to buy the same thing in 2000.I seems more like $188 in 2000 is only worth $100 nowadays. Like in 2000 a $100 oil pan now costs $188 ???? Or am I on drugs? I do feel dizzy when I pull out my wallet sometimes. LOL!
