It doesn't seem real that it's been 100 years. This anniversary coincides with the 250th anniversary of the greatest nation on earth, the USA. Lots of celebrations are planned. Which ones will you be looking forward to attending?

This reminds me of a story from my youth. I attended a wedding with my girlfriend, (soon to be wife) driving from Wichita to Dallas. We did ok getting there but the way back we were very lost north of OKC. Turns out we were on historic Route 66.

on a dark desert highway
Cool wind in my hair
Warm smell of colitas
Rising up through the air

Up ahead in the distance
I saw a shimmering light
My head grew heavy and my sight grew dim
I had to stop for the night

This wasn't some side road diner but a full-blown neon palace with excellent BBQ dinners, a live band and dancing!!!!! It did feel like a dream out there in the country. The food, service, decor, ambience was so good it was hard to believe it was real. If I remember it was called The County Line.

Yep. There was a cliff on the west side edge of the parking lot. Sadly, it closed a while back.

I am going to try and make it down to Bristow this fall. Plus have an old room mate in Oklahoma City. I need to do this.
Wellstone, OK. Isn't very far from Bristow, and we like BBQ. Thank you

You'll like the Mopar show in Wellston. Small town. Show is not too big to see it all in a few hours. Nice folks bringing cars, good selection of vendors, and the weather is nice.
When is the Wellston show. Ive been to the Bristow 1.

Bird 426, we just got back from Mopars at the Beach in Daytona Beach. We were planning on going to Bristow this year and were told that they are not having the Bristow show anymore. I tried looking for verification on their Facebook page and it says the site is unavailable right now. Big disappointment!

Central Oklahoma Mopars sponsors the annual show in Chandler, OK.

I apologize for the confusion.

Glad I was on parts of what's left of it on my 2004 trip to Amarillo.

Can cross that off my list of things to do before I die.

Just shy of making that "left turn at Albuquerque", though.
