What's it Worth 1962 409 Impala SS...

Now I am not a Chevy guy but I do like all types of cars.

This car was my wife's uncle's car who passed away last year. His daughter
has possession of the car and has reached out to try to sell it.

I looked at the car 20 years ago in a storage garage and I don't think the engine was in it. The car was an old drag car in the 70's.

Here's what I know about the car to be but not sure.

62 impala SS
factory 4 speed car
All black ( inside and outside)
409 engine
From the parts pictures maybe a factory duel 4 quad car
engine is out of car.

There are a couple of 409 engines and parts so still try to find out if the original engine is there and IF IT'S an original 409 car.
I do not think it was ever "Tubbed" but not sure since I can not see the car.

I guess a data plate will tell me more but not sure ?
What should I ask to see ?

What do think and original 409 SS dual carb car worth not running or just a straight 62 Chevy ??

That's a cool car. Lots of race parts too. I know restored original cars are bringing 50 to 75k these days,no idea what a drag car would bring.proving the car is an original 409 dual quad 4 speed car would be very important to figuring out the value.

We found out it is an original owner car. He bought it new and started racing around 3 years later. One of the engine picture shows the correct
casting for a 62 409. We believe it to be a duel quad car because the original intake is there. The fiberglass hood was used for a tunnel ram.
The sister said that he had to bolt in a roll bar because the car reached the 135 mph (NHRA) rules? But the wheel wells are unmolested.

The car has never been painted. The daughter who inherited it reached out to me to try to help price it and how to go about selling it.
We think the car has been stored in the same garage since the 70's .it's located in Post falls Id about 5 hours from me so I may have to go out to
check it all out for the sale info.

Hard to tell from the single picture of unknown age, just how solid the cars condition is. If the car has been in dry storage and is all there, it could be worth $40k, $50k, maybe even $60k depending on finding a buyer who really has the hots for an old 409. But not running probably getting into the high 40s, low 50s would be tops. Personally, I think old 409s are cool old school and would have loved to own one. It might be a good subject for BaT, especially if she can dig up some of its competitive history with race pictures, times, etc.
