My 64 Plymouth came with 2.76 sure grip. Also I have found 2.94.
3.23 was most common but back then it was up to who was ordering the cars.
I grew up in SW Pennsylvania not much level ground there. The local Dodge dealer always ordered cars with 3.23 and sure grips (snow).
It had a 3.31 ratio.
I think that ratio was only available in the 8-1/4”. That’s one weird thing, same 741 casting, same axles but the ring gear is just a little small. If you weren’t paying attention you could buy one as an 8-3/4 at a swap meet.So did my 65 when it was new.
If it was untouched it would have been the 8-1/4. I can tell you, if you weren't looking at the chuck sitting on the floor and looking for that in particular you would never have known.Mine was a 8 3/4. I'd never seen a 3.31 before this. Car was an untouched 6 cylinder 3 speed manual.

That's a different 8-1/4. You're thinking of the one used from '39 - '57. There was another that looked IDENTICAL to an 8-3/4 and swapped too! just had a little ring gear.I have had 3.31 and 3.73 in the 8 3/4. The old 8 1/4 had 11 studs and nuts holding them in. They also had a big 8 1/4 on the top right of the case when u we’re looking from the gear side. Kim
