I know a guy that is selling a 66 Polara convertible. Car is licensed, driveable, and in pretty nice shape including the top and interior. Rebuilt 383 and 727. He's thinking about selling it, and said he will entertain offers. I've looked around the web and just havent been able to find any for sale, so I'm wondering what it would be worth. Anyone have any opinions?

I don't know but you can bet that's one rare car...man..like to see a pic..God Bless.and thanks for sharing...Bear R.-

For some reason these cars do not seem to bring much on the market. I have seen several nice Polaras, Monacos and Furys - 2 door hardtops in really great condidtion sell around $2000 to $3000. The converts seem to get a bit more respect but not much. A real nice 66 Fury convert was a recent no sale on ebay at $6000 and it was a 318 car. If the car you are looking at is merely a clean driver I would think low to high $3000's would be fair. I always have liked these and hope you can get it. Lots of fun for the money.

Also remember an episode of Desert Classic Cars where he looked at an Arizona rust free needs everything 66 Polara rag top for $1500 and the guy had no interest at all at that price.

The car is a 2-door, and in really nice shape. I thought it might be fun to have a Mopar vert for the summer. Cant find a reasonably priced Satellite or Coronet vert, so just trying to figure out what to offer for it.

The Polara for 1966 was a C-body and due to that is under priced. While the Polara had higher production figures than the Monaco by almost 4 to 1, nice cars can go for as high as $16,000 in very nice shape, its all about supply and demand. The B-bodies are more sought after due to their styling and over-all size and popularity is reflected in their premium prices.

I own a 1968 Monaco 500 2dr. ht. loaded with options and while its a C-body its as sporty as a comparable B-body when it comes to options and there were only 3400 built in 1968 and it was the last year for the 500. Mine came with the 727 TF attached to the original 383hp engine, same as you will find in the Super Bee's and Chargers for that year. Many of the interior componets are the same such as the console which is the same for both C's and B-bodies.

The weight on my car is about 3885 and the Super Bee was about 3550 so there isn't all that much weight difference and most of the difference is due to optional equipment such as a powered drivers seat, electric windows, A/C and many other items.

As far as ebay goes.....lets just say that some of the sellers price their cars based on ,"Its Old" so it has to be worth a lot of money without checking actual selling prices of other cars. Its a buyer beware and its always wise to do your homework on anything you buy. Start off by asking him what he wants for it then go from there, verts go for about 20% more than a 2 dr. ht.

This is off of Hagerty's web site,

Year Make Model Submodel Body Type Engine Average Value
1966 Dodge Polara Convertible 8-cyl. 383cid/270hp 2bbl $14,294
1966 Dodge Polara Convertible 8-cyl. 383cid/325hp 4bbl $18,544
1966 Dodge Polara Convertible 8-cyl. 440cid/350hp 4bbl $17,880

Hope this helps!

Sweet Monaco! Thanks for the info. Not sure what to do. I'm kind of partial to the 68 Coronet 440's, so maybe I'll keep looking for one of those instead.

Unless you already have a car, why walk when you can drive!
