Various body stuff… IMG_6288.jpegIMG_6444.jpegIMG_6438.jpegIMG_6446.jpegIMG_6452.jpegIMG_6465.jpeg

Wow a nice sold body. Yes you dove off the high dive into the deep end on this one.
Such nice work done on it. Looking great!

What color will it be?

Pretty set on Winchester Gray, though I’ve had a hard time finding a spray out that looks similar to what I’ve seen online.

The lighter large panel is the closest I’ve found, though I feel it’s much more green/sea form that gray or blue that I usually see online.
Black Interior and black vinyl top.

Spent yesterday powdering various things, including the Saginaw ps box. Not sure if it was a good idea or not, we’ll see if it doesn’t leak and if it works as needed.
Hammered black on the cast part of the pump and semi gloss on the pulley and reservoir.

One of my favorite body styles and looks like a pretty solid starting point. Excellent workmanship. Keep up the great work.

Sorry to hear of the loss of your father. He would definitely be proud of your progress.

Scrolling through this thread with my jaw agape. Incredible workmanship and attention to detail. Bought my 67 BII 383 4-bbl 727 as a retirement hobby. Quickly realized my limitations (Freiburger and Dulcich made it look so easy). Thank you for posting your project - very educational for me. Look forward to your follow up.

Had a bit of a setback with the hood. Really thought I had it close to good, you can see the dent pulling marks in one of the pictures. Ended up needing to add filler in some spots, okay not the end of the world, kept it far less than 1/8” in all areas.
Unfortunately what I didn’t realize until after it was primered was that there was a large bubble area. Even using blocks it didn’t highlight this problem spot but it was noticeable once it was shiny with epoxy.

I tried some heat shrinking/stretching and unfortunately think I’ve just made it worse. I’ll get it real close then try for just a bit better and totally ruin what I had done.
I think I’ve made more of a mess out of it than I can recover from, at least with my skill set, so I’m looking for another hood.

Happy New Year everyone!

Also got brackets installed to use gas struts for trunk opening rather than the torsion rods.

Didn’t like the sheetmetal holes being the pivot surface for the trunk arms so I reamed them, welded in tube, then reamed the bore to further pins closely.

Really wanting a good GA4 Winchester Grey spray out to have matched when I order paint but dang…these all seem so much more “sea green”, where others I see look much more blue.

(Yes, I was mixing paint colors on the kitchen counter )

Some will say it was a dumb move but as an homage to my dad, who my brothers & I called the Michelangelo of Rustoleum, I sprayed the bottom floor pans with Hammered Rustoleum, after way too many hours of scraping undercoating. It isn’t perfect but I’m happy with it.

Finished the gas strut conversion on the trunk lid arms. Think they turned out well.
