The rims on it were the one's he purchased soon after he bought the car and became available. He wanted the Nacar look. They are made of very thick steel. I still have the original 4 rims, spare and caps. This car did a tour for Nascar before one of there races among other Mopars invited. Iindianapolis Speedway I believe. All the Mopars attending got a sticker to put in there window and is still there.Kinda makes a guy want to put some hub caps on it and throw them off in San Francisco

Given there is no factory documentation, there is no way to know how many cars came with certain select option combinations.Nonetheless there are far more than seven 68 Hemi chargers without the vinyl top option selected.
Easily 1/4 of the cars; over 100.

Any attempt at determining a number is simply guessing and not based on facts.
Guessing is what got us here in the first place.
Can you post a better pic of it please? If your talking about the front lower dam, he purchased that from a Witney's catalog as soon as they were available. This one is made of steel.
Exactly. Two door sports hard top is simply the term for the X*29 fastback roof style. That has nothing to do with a vinyl top or not.
And since its is not possible to cross reference two options (the Hemi AND a vinyl top) and come up with a new production number, what is the source of you information?
You can find out how many '68 XS29 Chargers came with a Hemi (~475) OR came with a a vinyl top (~13,505) but not combine the two and get a new number.
Could be anywhere between 1 and 475 for sure.Been trying to gather info and ran across that only 7 were made with a online search. No vinyl top for 1968 Hemi Charger. There was athread on here a while back with a member stating this also. Just reseaching to see, if any of this is true.
I guess you're right ( as usual !Given there is no factory documentation, there is no way to know how many cars came with certain select option combinations.

What have the inner fenders been coated with in the engine compartment? Super cool car!
Undercoating. A $16.10 option from the factory. And still soft. What have the inner fenders been coated with in the engine compartment? Super cool car!
My info was wrong by the sounds of it. And that is why the question was posted. I am ok with it. I thank everone for all member feedback.Thanks. What I shoot for is 'accurate'. Big difference.
The hobby needs less folks that are 'right' and more that are 'accurate' when it comes to topics like this.
Saying 'seven' was not accurate nor helpful.
Fair enough.
But it’s a number much larger than 7 realistically. I know there’s no concrete number. I’ve personally seen over 7.

Saying 7 was the info I was going on at the time. Wrong as it was. This was the only reason for the question. Just seeking info and conversation only. My apologies if anything was taken out of context. Errors can reveal deeper truths. I have another pic that can possibly be helpful for some.Thanks. What I shoot for is 'accurate'. Big difference.

Garrison yours a nice Hemi Charger. I am kina partial to vinyl roof chargers. Hemi Bob HIf your talking about the front lower dam, he purchased that from a Whitney's catalog as soon as they were available. This one is made of steel.
That was my doing. I do not remember how long ago that was. I believe it had to be before 2009. That is when my father past away and I completly lost my interest. My dad had a 1966 SS396 375hp 4sp Chevelle in Marina Blue. Car shows were our thing. Since then, Charger stayed in a car bag until the summer of 2024. Non heated garage. 15 + years of sitting in the dark. My 16 year old son at that time convinced me to get it out and he fell in love with her. So now i'm picking up the passion again for him. I am truely blessed. True story - My son and I aired up the tires, changed the plugs and pulled the old gas out. Poured some high test in the tank and she fired right up once the fuel hit the carbs. Sat there and idled without a miss. Brakes on the other hand needed some attention. Sorry, maybe more than you wanted to know.No worries.
That’s an awesome Charger and fantastic paperwork !! Looks pretty well optioned.
Was the previous/original owner active in the National Hemi Owner Association? I see a NHOA liceanse plate.
Love that color.
