No flooding here either but the mud!! Daughter buried the car trying to park by the garage yesterday. Gravel roads look like they have been moldboard plowed in places. Sunshine in the forecast. Fingers crossed. Nebraska sounds like a huge mess...

I have a half load of crushed rock in a pile to spread when it firms up but it is useless right now. Moved the 1086 yesterday in my yard and it cut ruts a foot deep. Never seen my yard this soft. I will be hauling in more rock to build a better base this summer.

So, Martin Senior paint? Urethane or single stage? Where did you get it from? They're based in Chicago.
            Looks so nice going on!

It is base coat - clear coat. Their premium line. I got it at dealer price- $207 for two quarts, going to get 3 more quart and I should have some left over. ... Got it at the local NAPA store.. Painter says it is going on very nicely. He had a reason for buying it by the quart size.........MO..............

Wish my body man- painter would have kept on working on my car as he did for a while. The new door hinges are from AMD. They come cadium plated, debated on painting them , but this car is not correct anyway.. I got tired of the Ply. sitting in the body shop with no progress being made. so I trailered it home , put the engine and tranny in as a unit ( much easier than I expected). Converted to power brakes, and the new rebuilt booster has been kicking my butt trying to get brakes bled. Turns out The new booster is bad. Thanks to a rookie lady parts counter person , I have had a hard time getting a replacement. I could have been driving it this weekend but for her ....missed one of my favorite local car shows today.
The new bumpers are AMD. Cheaper than getting mine replated and OEM quality or better. and they fit good.
Hopefully get it finished painted after my painter gets back from vacation !!.GRRRRR.....Probably will order the complete Vintage Air condition kit this week..........................MO

Noticed there are several wires under the dash that have ends on them , like they plug into something. I thought maybe they had come apart when working on other stuff. None seem to match up. Could those wires and plugs be for accessories that I don't have ? Maybe console, tach, etc. .........And where is the turn signal flasher supposed to be fastened down? I can't find a clamp for it, just loose.........................MO

You’re probably right on extra leads. Flasher should be to right of steer.col; “think” there is a clip lower edge of dash.

Been quite a while since I have updated. Now that the car is gone, I will catch up on the project report. GONE ???? Yes, today I took it to a different body shop. I had to fire the first one. the middle of last June...He finally hit my limit.. I wanted to wait to take it in until now so we could drive it up til snow time. The last couple days, I took off the bumpers, grille, headlight bezels , mirrors, hood call outs, trunk finish panel. Drove it to the shop and just as I was pulling into the driveway of the shop, a cop came up behind me . I had no license plates, but he didn't stop me.
The body panels have had gaps set, skim coat applied, primered, but no block sanding done. I finally figgered out my brake problem. Got the complete package Vintage Air system installed. Love it, works great... Got the stock radio with added watts and FM stereo installed and bugs worked out...works great
                    Pictures will be posted later.............................MO

I found this pic recently. It was taken the Summer of 1968... We ordered this car from the factory, with all the options I wanted. The 2 dr hdtp and several interior and exterior trim options became available in January 1968, and that was enough to finally buy a Roadrunner. The 68 Satellite in this build report is going to look like this Roadrunner when done, but I am not going to put any Roadrunner badging on it...................MO

I got some good news today. The body man that I had to fire, had set the hood gaps, but the back of the hood was raised about 1/4 inch from being flush with the top of the fenders. I was dreading buying expensive new hinges, as the ones I had , had been chemically stripped and painted body color. My current body man called to tell me he was able to get the hood adjusted. YES !!! I have sent the headlight bezels to "Cuda Chick' Leanna told me she thought she could fix them up.
The radio antenna hole in the fender is so large, it is hard to find an aftermarket antenna that fits properly. The local radio repairman told me the coax was bad in the stock antenna. . I saw him today and he was able to get new coax.
I hope all you'uns had a Merry Christmas, and I wish you a Happy New Year !!......................MO

good to hear it's progressing! I noticed your quarter windows roll down, I thought 68's just swung out! was that a partial year change or just RR's with the swing out. I certainly prefer the roll downs like my 69 had , that's why I never search 68's

Road Runners started out as only 2-door coupes in 1968, which had the b-pillar post and flip-out rear windows.
Late '68 and on, a hardtop version of the cars became available, which had roll-down windows and no b-pillar post.

All '68 Super Bees were coupes, incidentally.

As Ed says, the two door hardtop became available IIRC in January 68. A friend of mine bought a 68 RR when they came out, and they were very plain, with very little options. I think his had a rubber floor mat. I liked them , but SO bare bones. I ordered the 2 dr hdtp, auto tranny, vinyl top, carpet, upgrade interior, radio, power steering, trunk lid finish panel. Seems like it had a rear end and radiator option but I don't know what that would have been. I wanted a 3:55 rear gear but for whatever reason, the dealer told me it was not available????..................MO

Ron, so good to hear from you ! I thought you had disappeared! I have been very pleased with the Satellite. We have enjoyed driving it in the Summer, and working on it in the Winter.. I need to update the build thread. It is wet sanded and ready to be painted..hopefully this week. I will be posting pictures when it gets back home.... Please stay in touch.......MO.......................(Steve)
