1968 Roadrunner interior paint codes.

I'm restoring my 1968 Plymouth Roadrunner. I cannot find the information for the INTERIOR color paint codes. I think it's a Maroon or possibly a Burgundy, I've found conflicting codes. There doesn't appear to be an interior paint code on the fender tag. The exterior paint code is R, which is Matador Red, it came with white seats, door panels and headliner.

Is yours a Decore package ?
if so it's 99% of the time 'black' or it's the exterior body color 'at the top'
if it's a different color interior 'than black'

don't quote me, but sort of remember it that way

It sounds like my 68 GTX convertible. Dash and steering column are Aztec Maroon Poly suede. Soft trim and plastic parts are Aztec Maroon. Poly is metallic. I just painted all my parts and can post some pictures if needed. Got the paint from Instrument Specialties.

There was a two tone burgundy with white soft trim in 1968.

White: door panels, arm rests, seats

Headliner: need to check on specific model. My 68 Barracuda with White/Burgundy interior has a burgundy headliner.

Often no color chip if color not used on the exterior.

The burgundy is a slightly different shade depending on the material. Like a burgundy hard plastic A-pillar molding is different shade than dash pad and different than metal dash frame.

Dash frames have a texture and dullness for anti-glare.

Yeah, I also like the Red exterior and white interior, the maroon or burgundy interior added a little something too it to! Here is a pic of my fender tag. I don't see an interior paint code...

Still disassembled. My reply may have been confusing because I didn’t mention my seats, door panels and armrests are pearl white but I was trying to help op determine paint color of the maroon he was questioning.

I like that grit look on the steering column collar. Should match dash frame, ash tray cover, steering column.

And it looks like you have something different for the plastic trim. I see some contrast with the front window vents

Soft vinyl tends to have a little more gloss than the hard plastic: Horn button

@KLY68GTX did you have some original maroon pieces you could color match too? Like the inside of a maroon part that wasn't sun faded?

There were several different vendors for hard plastic parts so kick panels, A-pillar trim and console could all have a slightly different tint as those were molded in color. Yes I did have all of my original components that I could compare but I just used one color supplied by Instrument Specialties for hard trim and dash pads and it was very close to all of my original parts. As you mentioned there is a contrast for sure. The only exception was the defroster vents. I wanted those closer to the dash frame color so they mixed up a small batch that was the same as I used on the dash frame and steering column except with gloss and without the suede texture which gives a contrast. Tom at Instrument Specialties was very helpful and they have a dash that they display at shows that is identical to mine so I can't wait to look it over and get some pictures of it at Carlisle.

The trim book doesn’t seem to specifically call out Road Runner hardtop interiors.

But H4V is spelled out under optional 2-door hardtop

Note says headliner should be maroon (2nd color)
