Hi, trying to find what wires hook up to my back up lights 68 rr, 2 purple wires coming out of bottom of steering column with connector, is there another harness that hooks up to the purple wires? Thanks phil

I'm wondering the same thing for my 68 GTX. Mine is a consul auto. I think the wires are in there. Let me guess - you have a 4 speed on the floor.

So after reading multiple threads, the 68 rr back up light sw is in the bottom of the steering column (shift lever operated), now where do i get power to the purple plug, dash harness or fire wall? Phil

My dash and column are both out. There is a pig tail with a purple and white wire that breaks out of the main dash harness about 6 inches from the bulkhead pass through. It is the same shape as the BU switch end. Mine is also a A/T column car. If your are lucky the small post that moves the switch is still there. When I rebuilt my column it was necessary to break off the post to disasemble. It is a sacraficial part that is not available. I even contacted R Eherenberg for a source. He said to wire it in to a newer style 3 prong trans switch. Hope you are Lucky...
