Does anyone know where to get assembly/disassemly instructions for a 3 speed wiper motor?
Specifically is the motor barrel/cover secured by the large screw/bolt showing on top?

To disassemble the motor you will first need to unsolder the wires from the switch plate then remove the switch plate cover make note of which notch
in the transmission housing the cover tab is in. Then remove the gear and park mechanism next
Remove the two long screws at the rear of the motor housing. At this point separate the motor from the housing making sure not to damage any of the winding leads. You can then pull the armature from the housing. You can tear it down further if needed it will be obvious how to proceed from there. The large screw on the housing is used to set the end play of the motor shaft.

Thanks so much for the info.

Thanks so much for the information and forgive my ignorance. I am posting a picture. Could I ask you to identify the switch plate and where the wires are separated.

Ok no problem. The switch plate is the big round cover with the two green wires and one blue attached to it. Your gonna want to remove them they are soldered to the small tabs at each end of the beige piece of insulating board. You will also need to remove the wire harness clamp from housing in order to seperate the housing and motor.

Keep your phone handy and take lots of photos as you take it apart. A picture's worth 1000 words !!!!

That's a pretty nice motor to be taking apart !!

That is why I'm curious about why he is disassembling it

Sorry, the picture is not mine. I just found one on the internet for research. Again mine is still on my car and works great - but cosmetically it needs work. The motor housing cover needs repainted.
Thanks again for all the help. Think I can do it now.
