I'm seeing a lot of red flags here too. A guys who's a Mopar master will know how to tell what the ratio of the rear end is, will know this was an automatic car and not a 4-spd, and the fact that there's been a tranny swap and the fender tag is gone makes me very suspicious. I would suspect this car has been re-VIN'd, which is why this guy is trying to find someone to buy it rather than drop another dime in it, especially if it's been listed on eBay and CL. I would ask for the other VINs on the car, but don't be surprised if he never sends them to you.
These are my favorite, they go to an old ranch or junk yard, pick up a car for $500 or so then before even getting home they are taking pictures and building the CL & ebag ad for $10K. what a joke you should tell that guy to bust a few knuckles and get it running first then sell it for $6500 what a dick just like all the others. Sorry just pissed.
Someone message him saying that it's your old car that got stolen about a year ago, and that authorities have been informed. That'll straighten his story out ink banana:
If he say`s it`s a 4 speed but not sure, I would start by looking for the firewall reinforcement bracket, by the master cylinder, that goes through the firewall & is spot welded in place. This is one of the most common over looked items, when switching from auto to 4 speed. Very difficult to put this in properly to look factory.
I think you guys are reading a little far into this? It sounds like a guy trying to sell another car on eBay, the only thing I have to say is that I think this guy has sold a few cars on ebay over the last several years, so he may be a flipper, other than that that the auction sounds legit
