Trying to confirm what was the factory OEM set-up for a cooling fan. Was the fan blade itself - 4,6,7 blades ? Was it a non-clutch fan or one with a thermo clutch. Also where on build sheet would it give a code for what came with the car. Thanks

Pics if anyone has a stock fan on their ride. I realize a 4 speed car or one with air may be different.

Mine is a super track pak 4 speed car and it’s a fan clutch. I know not an automatic but maybe it helps you. If you need a picture of the oem fan and original clutch let me know. I can take one and post it here

26” Radiator. Clutch Fan here. 69 Dodge. 4 speed. Non AC. Not sure number of blades.

Line three of your broadcast sheet will show the fan and spacer. A base 440 automatic without the performance axle package would have a seven blade fan with a spacer. Many GTXs were upgraded. I've owned four stock '69 GTXs, one four speed, two factory A/C, and one automatic with the 3:55 performance axle package. The A/C cars came with a thermal drive fan clutch, and four speed cars have a viscous drive drive version. The performance axle package used the same viscous drive as the four speed cars.

My '68 440 GTX had the same base set up as the '69 models. A 22 inch radiator with shroud, and a fixed 7 blade fan with a spacer. Never had any colling issues, re-cored the original radiator in 2013. Although my first factory A/C GTX came standard with the thermal drive fan clutch, the original owner special ordered the car with a fixed blade fan.

just looked at my broadcast sheet. Code number 24 is actually called out which is a 4 blade fan and that is what is in the car. Thanks all.

per google search
"While many 1969 Plymouth GTX models, particularly those with high-performance, towing, or air conditioning packages, were equipped with 7-blade fans, a 4-blade fan was sometimes used on base models to balance cooling needs with production costs and engine efficiency. The 4-blade design was considered sufficient for the 440 engine under normal driving conditions without the added drag of more blades. "

I will keep an eye out for a 7 blade at some point. Anyone have a part number for a 7 blade that does not get installed with a clutch.

I am 99% sure NONE of them came with a 4 blade fan. Where did you get this information? Google is and can be wrong.
4 blade fans were used on 225 cube equipped cars, maybe some lame-o 273 and 318 cars to.

It probably came with a 7 blade. Like this : Radiator Fan# 2863224 - 7 Blade - A - B - C - E - F - Body - 1968-79 - USED - SHIPS FREE TO LOWER 48 - Blue Star Performance

I have original broadcast sheet, you can't get better than that.
Yes you can get better than that. You can get the advice of seasoned mopar people who both know and who also know how to read the build sheet. I highly suspect the 24 on your original broadcast sheet represents the last two digits of the part number of the fan you are supposed to have. Hence the link that I provided in my last post. Fan part number 2863224

Respectfully, you ask, you get answers that are correct but you’d rather believe AI because there are so many 1969 GTX’ s running around for AI to gather information from it must be true.

AI and google are often wrong. As they are in this case.

If you still don’t believe it I highly encourage you to put a 4 blade fan on your GTX. See how that works for you.

Car is 95% original with 55,000 miles and last owner had it for 25 years. I will be reaching out to him to discuss. If in the event he says never a heating issue ( and this guys drove it to Carlisle) and I find fan was on the car for decades I may leave it. Will after contacting previous owners I will let all know what I find.
