I am currently running an air grabber setup on my 69 RR. I would like to change my dp4b dual plane intake on my 499 inch stroker. I think this is the tallest intake I can use for an air grabber setup but I am not sure. I am thinking of replacing my hood to a six pack hood or removing the air grabber to use I pie air cleaner so I can use maybe an m1 intake. What is the best method?

Thanks

If you are just asking about clearance then a 6 pack hood is definitely the ticket. Something to think about, you will have to develop a technique of lifting it off by yourself and setting it down somewhere otherwise you always need a helper. Also, from the factory there was a large setup under the air cleaner to seal against the underside of the hood if you want to do it properly, but that could be left off.

If you're asking what's best for your engine then others will have many opinions, you can always try the M1 then sell if it's not what you are after.

They also make bolt on six pack hoods that use your hinges.

I'm picking between lift off and bolt on with hinges on the 6 pack hood. Love the looks when the lift off sits on the four braces - but I don't know if I could handle it myself in windy Sweden. Might have to ask someone from Chicago for advice lol :)

Thanks for the replies. I was thinking of purchasing the six pack hood that I can use hood hinges. Who sells all the seals and also what type of air cleaner do I need? The six pack air cleaner uses 3 carbs, I am only running one.
Any issues with running this hood with a pie air cleaner? What about driving in the rain with this pie air cleaner setup?

i have an Edelbrock Victor intake under my stock hood with about an eighth inch clearance from hood to air cleaner. no air grabber and no hood insulation.

The rain factor has crossed my mind too. I'm thinking of making some sort of block-off for my scoop before I cut the big hole...
