I had the seat frames out of my car for restoration and upon reassembly, I noticed only the driver side frame had this thick beefy spring, in addition to the small yellow outer spring for the adjuster lever, and the cable that joins the adjuster levers on both halves. However, the passenger side frame is lacking this big spring. It otherwise works fine after reassembly, the adjuster lever and cable releases the adjusters and the seat will slide forward/back. It just seemed odd because it appears the passenger side frame has mounting spots for this big inside spring. Do the passenger side buckets not have this spring?

Yes the right side should also have it.

Thanks guys. It's odd to discover that spring somehow went missing, and wonder how long it's been missing...or even, maybe it always was. Even with the frames removed from the car and disassembled, it's almost impossible for that big spring to "fall off" because it's under a good deal of tension.

If it wasn't installed correctly it WILL fall off ... ask me how I know !!!

Have one or two, but looks like your in Canada. I would give it to you, but you should be able to locate one up there.

Thanks for the offer but I don't need one - I was just saying that if not installed properly it can fall off. Mine did then I put it on correctly !

Thanks, I bought an extension spring on Amazon with nearly identical specs. I will hopefully be able to test-fit it tomorrow and share an update.

Well, the Amazon spring worked! Here's a comparison of the original spring and spring I got on Amazon; the top one is original:

Amazon spring

The spring I got on Amazon has slightly thicker wires and maybe 1/3" shorter. As expected with the slightly heavier wires, it was a bit stiffer than the stock spring. I slightly unbent the overly-curved hook ends to make them easier to snap into the holes, holding the main spring in a vise and needle-nose Vise-Grips for the win.

And voila; I installed the original spring on the driver seat:

And the Amazon spring installed on the passenger seat:
