**1970 Dodge Charger STUDENT build!!! matching numbers! (teacher posting)**

Looking for recommendations on a torque converter.

Manufacturer or specs?
For sure, ask the transmission guy that built your transmission about TC specs & manufacturers.

Also, see these posts from FABO:

Believe currently a 2.76 set of gears.

My two B-bodies have 3.21 & 3.23 gears. My '70 Charger 383-4V, 4 speed will get a minimum of 3.55 gears. I won't be driving it on the interstate and so 3.91 gears are an option for me. Sure-grip of course.

You'll need at least a 3000 stall converter and 3.91 or deeper gears
I pretty much agree, but I would (off the cuff) say somewhere between 3200 & 3500. A set of 3.91 gears would be fun for sure.

I guess matching numbers isn't much popular anymore?
Depends on the package.. 383-440-426 yes, even a Slant Six with 3 spd manual, sure. 318 Auto, Not really unless it tells more of a story of the car and option package.

I have a 540 in my car, but the stock block is in my Garage.. Only the Axle housing is stock now..

Will I buy tickets for the drawing, absolutely, but if I wan, that 318 is the first thing to go...

P.S. I went to High School and JC Auto Shop, thank you for what you are doing.
