Hello Everyone!

I hope you all and your MOPAR’s are well. So, there I was after church today breaking bread with some old car guys and learned of a 1970 GTX U code, console automatic project that may be for sale. Of course I plan to go look at it… Anyway, the bad news… The original engine was blown up years ago, it currently has a 72 440 engine and is missing the fender tag… She has not been stored inside, so it’s gonna need a complete engine/trans rebuild, interior and lord knows what else will be required before getting her painted, etc., etc,.

My understanding is the GTX is in poor condition and the only thing that makes it worth considering is that it is a U code car. What do you all think would be a “ballpark” figure I should stick to “IF” I make an offer???

I would appreciate any advice. Have a great Sunday!

Like the old saying goes, its only worth what you're willing to pay. Lots to consider, how much would it cost for a good paint job, gotta locate a correct year motor then have it rebuilt, rebuilt trans rear end, interior. The list is endless.

A GTX emblem does not a GTX make.....that thing has a Road Runner grille for a starter.

All great points for me to consider. I’ll definitely be decoding the VIN first and foremost. Then the frame rails, floors, so on and so forth. I’ll keep you posted on what I discover! Thanks!
