Do I have to remove the windshield seal in order to remove the dash pad?

If you are restoring the car it is way easier to take the windshield out and remove the dash if not.... It can be done in the car but it is not easy to do

If I remember, I installed the pad, into the dash frame, with the frame and windshield already in place.

If you've got some contortionist in you, it can be done. Cluster out, possibly glove box out.. but there's a reason my new one for the Bird is still on the shelf 6 years later....LOL

Yes, you can do it. I did it on my '69 Road Runner. I did have pretty much everything out of the dash though. Steering column, gauges, radio and heater. Oh, and definitely the front seat out. I had all of that out anyway, from there, not that difficult.

All of the above, plus a mirror.
I put one in my 70 and it was a pain but it can be done. Don’t forget the mirror. Did I mention the mirror? It was very useful in finding the studs on the pad.

Mark the stud locations with a chalk mark. 1/4 ratchet, extensions, and swivel with tape around to steady it. I did it on a 69 with cluster and seats in, wasnt too hard. If you can magnetize your socket even better.

I just recently completed replacing the dash pad on my 70 Coronet. Pretty much everything in the dash has to come out. I put blue masking tape on the new pad to mark the locations of the studs to make it easier to put the nuts back on.

Someone here claimed to do it. I doubt it's easy because the bolts that attach the dash are under the gasket and windshield glass.

Windshield comes out.... Still easier than the alternative....
