Hello,

I have a set of questions related to a 1970 front bench seat. I have a local upholstery restoration shop near me already selected. I will be purchasing the upholstery kit from legendary (black w/ silver welt).

1. Is there a front bench seat hardware kit that can be purchased? I have the complete front bench seat, but no bolts or hardware to reassemble once the seats are restored.

2. Are there any components on the interior of the seat that may need replaced? (backboards, cables when folding the seat down, etc?) If so can these components be purchased anywhere?

3. I have the headrests but they would need restored. Are there any foam kits or components available to restore the headrests?

4. Is there anything else I am missing or may need to purchase? I want to ensure I am giving my restoration shop everything they need.

Thanks in advance for any advice.

Drew

1) Hardware tracks should have the studs and I’m sure some resto places have the black spacers and washer/nuts that go on the bottom of the studs
2)As far as I know no cardboard reproduced that’s the back part of the seat on the bench ( I reused mine )cables to move front and back I reused mine and never found Repro but should be able to fashion a cable if needed.
3) I had learned a secret since I didn’t know of and foam. I used 2 part epoxy and laid in there and shaped like bondo and then used interior paint to color. Dennis at Kruzin Moons restores these to OEM and recommend highly. Also sells the chrome bands
4) I’m assuming you have the seat medallions and headrest bezels. Medallions I’ve never seen Repro but headrest bezels are.
Good luck Drew and hit me up if you need any other questions. Rick

Thanks for the reply. I do have the tracks and studs. I was curious if there are any other bolts, washers, etc. to assemble the seat itself and if those are available anywhere.

I do have the seat medallions for the front and rear seats, luckily. And I do have the bezels for the headrests, I just need them recovered somehow.

I'd say all good questions for your reupholster shop!

I don’t know about a kit, but I do know there is a lot of parts and pieces. Lots of prep. Here’s a couple of photos of most of the item you will need. Ask me how I know. Thanks to @MWbirdLOVER70 I now have my medallions.

If you have the old covers, take them with you to the upholstery shop. They can be used for reference.
