Pretty sure that the Imperial brakes won't work. Spindles are taller and take bigger ball joints. Easiest conversion is the 73-76A/73-4E disc.
 
Not to be a emergency care type of guy but you are playing with some dangerous details with this, a right back fire and enough of gas floating around in the air you may be looking for another Mopar, or home... I seriously would wait until you get things hooked up right and it would help figure out your problem at the same time..

You're probably right. Last thing I want is to run into a dangerous situation and cause more harm than good. I think I'll just go ahead and rebuild the carburetor and then next month I should be able to order a new tank.

I passed on those brakes. I thil I'll get something aftermarket from PST or something.
