1971 Roadrunner Steering column length

Need some help here guys. I went to install my Auto, console steering column and the studs/bolts do not align up at the brake sled, the column appears too far forward, if I pull the column aft to align these fasteners the column slides of the steering box. I'm thinking that I have a partially collapsed column, however the column 'shafts' do not move independently. Can someone give me the overall dimension of the column?

Should all line up if the column is not collapsed. Are the nylon telltales (2) visible on the slip shaft? They are meant to shear off in an accident to allow the column to collapse.

Thanks guys, I just completely disassembled my column looks like the nylon pieces are still in the outer shaft section but maybe broken so I'm guessing the shaft is slightly collapsed.
