I have been researching the correct rear end for my 71 Hemi Roadrunner and everything points towards a 70-72 B body 3.54 Trac-Lok 603222-1, -2

Can anyone tell me why it says -1 or -2?

Thanks

Lots of views but no help, I have found a 603222-2 but don't know if that's good for a 71 hemi RR 4 speed? Anyone????

My understanding is the -1 or -2 is based on the casting molds. They only lasted so long. When one wore out, they went to the next mold, so from a -1 to a -2, for example.

You are speaking of internals right? The housing is only 71-2 for B-body

The 603222-2 is stamped on the axel tube right below the date which reads as follows:
9 16 70 A7

Any axle housing with a 9 16 70 date is going into a 71 car, so what I was saying is the correct width flange to flange and perch to perch would be an axle assembly in/from a 1971 or 1972 B-body. 1970 housing is different (narrower).

Thanks Jersey! this is the info I have on measurements do you agree?

dana 60 rear end widths, drum-to-drum:
'71-'72= 63"

center of flange to center of flange
71-74 B-body 57-47/64"
