1973 Plymouth Satellite Sebring Plus Area between bumper and trunk?

I have recently purchased a 73 Plymouth Satellite and I was wondering why there is a 2 inch gap between the back bumper and trunk? I didn't know if there was some rubber missing or if the trunk or bumper was not original to the car...?? Will provide pics if needed

Yeah there is a filler panel that is suppose to be there. It is rubberized with a metal core. Mine just sits there and is not fastened to anything and is a tad chewed up.

....ooops I just noticed your speaking of a Satellite, mine is a Charger but that filler may be the same I'm not sure.

Not the same part, but yeah, it's supposed to be there.

Easy to crack and VERY difficult to find a replacement.

they are not re-popped
