I had a old center console from a "cough" gm vehicle laying around, so i mounted it in my RR :)

my runner has the center console in it...was wondering if hanging was an option....or maybe the front have box portion of a console of one like the GM unit you used...those GM buckets?

Here is what an original with casette deck looked like and where it mounted. Not my car, but a local one to me.

The seats are from a 95 chrysler LHS...

they look ok in there for being newer seats

yeah, they don't look out of place...plus i like the side and seat bolstering of later model seats...they help keep you planted when turning, unlike the original buckets that came in these cars...

I dont think Ive ever seen a rr with a stripe over the deck lid, or do you mean roof? Im gonna save my pennies and buy me a $600 updated version and plug it in the orginal spot for mine.

Yep, there were no rear deck stripes on 71-74 road runners.

Most guys use a hidden radio stashed in the glove compartment and operated by a remote. My solution was to sell my instrument cluster for $340 or so on ebay, buy a cut one for $50, and use the other $290 to buy a great stereo, carpet, headliner, etc. ;)

I was going to mount my CB there but I couldn't find an ash tray cover, so I mounted the CB over where the ash tray is.

I have a V9W option on my fender tag and all I can find on it is "rear deck stripe" now I didn't know for sure but can't recall ever seeing a 73-74 with rear deck stripe...my car is/was bronze poly metallic- white stripe? with V9W as unknown..but another place for decoding came up with optional rear deck stripe....as far as radio...mine is missing but the dash is original and perfect...can't cut...thinking of doing a floor mount just ahead of console....have a rear speaker control knob where a fasten belt light should be on the upper lip of drivers dash insert.

The last Road Runner of that era with a rear deck stripe was the 1970 models, which might have used that V9W code. I've seen a lot of sources for decoding info carry over old codes to define ones that changed over the years, so it wouldn't surprise me if someone did some research and could only find the 1970 definition for the code and assumed it meant the same thing in 1973.

IIRC, 71/72 models could have rear deck stripes.

What rear deck stripes were available for 71/72? The last deck stripes I've ever seen were for 1970. Was that 71/72 option an artifact?

they were available for 72 for sure

cool...gotta full photo of the green meanie and its stripes ;) any body on a V9W option in 73? thanks

I stand corrected. :) Not man references for those stripes, but Graphics Express lists them as for 72 Road Runner only.

Unfortunately I dont have any pictures, But what I did for my radio in my 73 bird, was cut a hole in my glove box bucket between the heater box, and the ac ducts, it is just big enough to squeeze an aftermarket deck in. To make it look good, I picked up an under the dash mounting kit off of a local custom radio shop for 25 bucks. The original measurements were 9 by 11 I think, 11 inches, was far too deep to fit in the glove box, so I cut it practically in half, I forget the exact measurement as it wasnt directly half of it. I pre drilled four holes in the top of the glove box bucket after I had it mocked up and then screwed it in. It is sturdy, it looks completely original when the glove box is closed, and it still looks great and I get a ton of compliments when they see how I have it set up. I took two small component speakers and mounted them in my drivers and passenger door, there are two holes already on the inside of the door, just measure the depth and width and then source out the speakers. for the rears, I mounted two aftermarket jbl's in the original speaker locations. I run an amp that is located under my rear seat, with the wires running under the carpet, The whole interior looks 95 percent original, the 5 percent that doesnt look original are the speakers in the door, but they don't look bad if you do it right! if anyone would like pictures feel free to call or text me 774 364 4026
