1978 440 Motor home engine

Question, can a stock torque converter be used behind these engines? Secondly I have that flex plate specifically made to help balance the engine, which way dose it bolt to the crankshaft. I'm a ways from putting the drive train in, but I want to be sure I everything ready come that day.

Here's the installation instructions from Holley for the 10237 flex plate. Also, the flex plate should have "Engine Side" stamped into it from what I have seen in photos.
