1980 Cordoba

OK - this may not be the best category to toss this discussion in; but the "anything goes" maybe gives me some leeway. I had an '80 Cordoba years ago black w/ red leather interior that I really liked for its looks...body lines. My mishap was the POS 6-banger it had that gave me mega trouble. I'd think this car would be ripe for restoing and tricking up.
Anyone have one to show off?

I thought they looked pretty nice too. The /6 probably helped it accelerate like an ocean liner, but with a good 360....

Do so very much drop in a 360 and enjoy the heck out of it. It will move really nice with a non smog properly crafted 360, no doubt!

An '80 Cordoba became small. Vs. the '79 & earlier lot. I'm not sure of the weight. But once you lighten the engine up with the normal aluminum parts, they weigh very very close to the /6. The 8-1/4 will hold a respectable amount of power. No worries there. You'll need a trans to match the sb-V8. Use a 904, non lock up.
Do watch the rear ISO suspension rubber biscuit and mounting plates. They are weak. They also get thin with years under the car. I ripped the shock plate and lower ISO biscuit cup. The F M J stuff is easier to find over the late B body stuff for this. But replacing it all together with an earlier set Up is the way to go.
If reworking/welding is a bit much, then an earlier 8-1/4 or 8-3/4 will work excellent. Watch the offsets and/Or widths.

Go for it! The cars make excellent hot rods.

Sorry for the confusion I had an '80 doba in the mid-80's for maybe a year after getting so peeved at the motor and no funding to do much with it. Back when had one toddler, one in the furnace, fixer up house, and working like nuts. Seeing the car recently on the net brought back memories of how I liked the body style (Magnum same car with different apps') boxy lines yeah; but look at the mix of '60's cars having some similar features and size. I saw one pretty well done with larger tires/wheels and stance that looked nice. These weren't keeper cars and weren't made in the numbers of the earlier ones so likely dwindling fast in numbers; but pricing is cheap on what I've looked up. Last year for them was '83. I'm busy enough restoing my '63 Fury and on the downside of life's curve so not in my future to think about. If I were younger I'd likely be taking this more seriously...how many have you seen in the last 15 years? I do several car shows a year...nada. Part of my appeal is having a car that's pretty uncommon much as I cherish the later 60's and earlier 70's mopars.
