So, in NASCAR's grand wisdom they let everyone go through two rounds of practice at Talladega and then they change the rules by reducing the size of the restrictor plates before qualifying?
Let's see just how much a 3.5% reduction in total area opening cuts the speeds.

The smaller-opening restrictor plate cut Harvick's qualifying speed by a bit over 5 mph from his speed during Practice 2 yesterday.
