I have a 318/904 now with a mild cam, intake, edlebrock 4 bbl carb, headers, mallory dist and ign box and headers. I have a stock 360 from a 78 truck with a 727 trans. I know I have to swap to a 360 car oil pan and pick up but what I was wondering is if I can swap the cam, intake, carb, headers and dist to the 360 for now? what else would I need to swap? Im changing the rear to a 8 3/4 and already have that and the driveshaft for the 727/8 3/4 setup.

You should be able to swap over everything. I believe the trans mount is different between 904 to 727 if I'm not mistaken

The answer to your question is yes, all of theparts you mentioned will swap from a 318 to a 360 (and vice-versa). But don't mix the lifters up, if you do they'll wipe a lobe off the cam and you'll be tearing everything down again. In fact I would recommend new lifters and an oil pump while you've got it apart anyway. They're not really required but it's cheap insurance.

318 pan won't fit a 360.....and the motor mount bracket on the driver's side is a bit different too but you can use a spacer or stack washers to take up the difference.

273s, 318s, and 340s use one pan, 360s use another. I don't know what the difference is but they have different part numbers.

I think it was the rear main seal area was a different size then the 318/340 blocks, why its different I have no idea.

Actually, the teen pan has a lager pan seal opening than the 360 pan has......if you put the teen pan on the 360, you will be able to stick your fingers though the opening.
