I'm not well versed at this, can anyone help me decode ??

block is 2468130-10 I know the 2468130 is 383 block, what is the -10 on the end? under that it is stamped D N and the clock mark shows pointing to the 11 mark ?

thanks !

The -10 is the patterns that the block was made from. D N is day or night and there is a pointer to which it is. And it was made at 11 o'clock.

-10 is just the sand casting "cavity" number. SO when QC snags something bad they know what -# to toss aside.

How do I tell what year it is?

By the stamping on the machined pad up front. Like F 383 would be a from a 1970 car

There is a casting date on the drivers side of the block
