I would like to replace the 727 in my '69 Charger with a 4 speed automatic.
Anyone knows what brand and cost involved?
Thanks,
Ed

There are not many choices for something that will bolt right in, especially if you have a big block. Silver Sport Overdrive does have a kit based on a GM transmission. You could use a Mopar transmission if you have a small block but there will be some clearance issues involved in that.

Like KD said the Mopar 518 trans for small block aps will require mount and floor pan modification. Place called Tranz Tech in Dubuque IA also can adapt the 518 to big block configurations

Gear vendors. Also do a search on this forum. This topic has been discussed in detail. There are a few different options out there and everyone has their opinions on to which is the best way to go. I did a 518 conversion in my 68 Coronet. Won’t do that again. I went with 518 because it had a better O/D ratio in 4th gear over the gear vendors unit, but boy what a pain in the *** for install. Also could never get the vacuum switches to work correctly to shift into 4th. Ended up installing an O/D button on the shifter with a dash light. Don’t even get me started on the bell housing conversion. What a PITA.

Thanks for the info, the cost for the Silver Sport will run over $7k. Thats too much, I'll go with the Gear Vendor.
