I'm pretty sure in 1972 all the v8s were painted corporate blue. I believe 71 year cars were the last of turquoise or orange engines

Was just cleaning my oil pan today, and it IS turquoise or possibly corporate blue under the orange paint.

How much difference was there between turquoise & Corporate blue? I had many different years of the mid to late 60's 383's & 400's 440's up through '78. As my aging brain recalls, not much difference in early years vs later. But I wasn't concerned about the color, just the core shift. Seems like the thick web blocks may have been related to Mopar's desire to still play in the NASCAR Grand National game after the Hemi was outlawed. They tried the wedge motors for couple years.

I would like know the difference between the Turquoise and Corporate Blue. Anyone have some pictures to post? Is it close to Ford Blue? I was thinking about painting my 451 the Turquoise, like my 68 RR 383 was painted, back in the day.

Here's a good look at the difference I had to replace my Valley Pan and bought the wrong colored paint and just went with it

Oh, I see the corporate blue on the valley pan. Nice color, I like that one. Do you get that color from Summit?
I started using Ford brite blue because it was very different, Mopar never used anything close. My recollection of all the non orange motors is they were about the same turquoise. I am sure some plants got different paints, but pretty close.

Apparently, neither was Chrysler.
That valley pan doesn't look like any stock Mopar motors I ever had. Looks more like the Ford blue.

Yea, it does. Ford blue may be a little bit brighter. Summit has the Classic Blend engine paint, K89166. Says it matches the Blue, 70 to 74 Mopar factory engine color. They also carry the Turquoise for earlier years.
That is not close to the factory Mopar color. Ford may have also had more than one blue. What I went to Ford was "brite blue". Way different. They may have had something else closer to Mopar. Still, all my '70 & later had what I call a turquoise color. I guess we all see colors a bit different. Just sayin.

I hear ya. I remember the original turquoise in the 60s. But I don't recall the corporate blue. Hard to talk about colors with no colors to look at. LOL.

I went to O'Reilly's and looked at cans of paint and it said Chrysler blue on the paintcan

I'll have to check that out! Thanks! And I imagine the price is lower than the 16 something a can Summit wants. And you realize, of course, the Blue engines always make more horsepower! LOL

Yes, that's the one I like! Glad it's available locally. It's a nicer looking color than the older Turquoise. I'm thinking the Chrysler Blue is the one used on the 70 to 74 motors.

Here's a few pics of the huge main bearing supports found in my early 230 block.
number 3 thrust bearing.
number 2 main bearing support. The support runs all the way up to the bottom of the cylinder, and is quite large.
