FROM what I understand, " more importantly'' it runs all the way yo the cam bearing boss, that`s supposedly where they break. Here's a few pics of the huge main bearing supports found in my early 230 block. The support runs all the way up to the bottom of the cylinder, and is quite large.
Nice! I don't think I'll be making that much power. LOL Just happened across this one on C List, and eventually bought it. Didn't even know it needed a casting date before 10-10-71, to have the larger web supoprts, but I lucked out there. This motor was at a cabin in the Colorado Rockies west of Fort Collins! There are still a few out there.FROM what I understand, " more importantly'' it runs all the way yo the cam bearing boss, that`s supposedly where they break.

There are later 230 blocks that have the BOLD numbers but with the smaller main web. I had one which was late October
Hi Andy, Which brand main caps do you use/recommend?, I'm planning a 512 build and this looks very good. Is doing the caps enough or do I need to add girdle as well for a 700HP street buildI have a cross-bolted early 230 block in my Coronet.
