what do you fellas think a 400 bored 30 over with 10 to 1 pistons , 484 purple cam, dual plane m1 intake power output would be ...ballpark hp and tq. with a good carb and headers. thanks for any input... trying to decide whether to use it or build a 440 i have sitting in corner of shop

The M1 dual plane is not a great piece, without blueprinting the pistons might be "10:1" but the actual static compression of that engine will not be, and the MP .484 is usually a turd unless it's given some special attention. So I'd put the horsepower at about 315-350 depending with potential to be higher if the work is top notch and the entire engine was rebuilt.
The B wedge "fits" a lot better and is lighter but the RB is the eye candy. Either can be rebuilt to respectable power levels or built to a non-factory stroke and really produce for about the same money. So choice is up to you.

the whole engine was built and in a 4 speed car... i was going to cylinder pressure check before putting in car maybe change cam.

Your power is in the heads. What's on it now? Having 10-1 is good and the 484 should bleed off some PSI in the lower RPM ranges so pinging shouldn't be an issue. There's a lot more to consider so do your homework.

Definitely a stroker with a good set of heads! Just finished one, came in at 9.7:1 cr. Stroked to 512 with aluminum CNC heads from 440source. All kinds of power!

Good luck!

i want a cam recommendation as well as torque converter so i can use 2.94 gears with this 400. i know the mp484 wont be right one for this combo . he put 10 to 1 pistons in it but i know that might not be actual compression. i was told to find out cylinder pressures to get us in ballpark of where its at... i just know some of you fellas would know good starting points on cams and torque converters...i want the car to make all the low range torque it can up to 5000 as flat a curve as possile
