Hi

my Polara has a 413 cui engine, casting number 2468030-2 with solid lifters.

I do need the tappet adjustment values (cold engine) for the valves. I think the engine is stock.

Thanks

Without knowing what cam is in there, impossible to say. The main thing for engine safety is that they are not too tight when hot.

The book for the 1963 Chrysler 300J (413) says .015 (INT) and .024 (EX) hot

You can download quite a few factory manuals from MyMopar

'62-3-4 Chrysler is closest I see, which of course would not cover the "Maxi" engines, and I doubt that is what you have

Which begs the question, "what year model" are you working on?

All answers are complete nonsense if you don't know exactly what cam you are running. Find that out and you can be given a competent answer. Otherwise all answers are quesswork.

Are you sure it's a 413? 2468130 is a 383 and 1852029, 2120529 and 2205697 are 413 casting numbers

What carburetion system is on the 1962 Polara?

Well, at least we know that that some of the stock 413 engines did come from the factory with solid lifters. Says here that there were 380 HP 413 engines with solid lifters.

Thanks

It has a dual quad carburetor. It's not the stock engine. It looks like the 59 Chrysler 300E engine but the block is stamped 1964.

You don't understand. The engine is not important. The CAM WHICH IS INSTALLED in that engine is what is important. Now that these old girls are "old" who knows what cam is in the thing.

Again, the main thing is that you have sufficient clearance when hot so that you don't burn a valve "held open"

Frankly I'd be tempted to add about .005 to the shop manual listings and set them cold, then recheck them hot.

If possible trace back the history of the car. Who worked on what, was the engine rebuilt and by whom, and what cam did they use?

Are there adjustable rockers or stamped rockers. Could even have adjustable push rods and stamped rockers. Pull the valve cover and check it out.
