426 and 440 lifter interchange?

Picked up an NOS 1973 426 Hemi RacerBrown camshaft SSH-44, hydraulic lifters, valve springs and retainers. Can I use the lifters, springs and retainers in a 440. I have an early SSH-44 for the 440.

by 426 if you mean hemi, the cam and retainers won't work. lifters , springs will.

426W/440 cam lobes are in a different location than the 440 Hemi engines.

Im curious, why wont the retainers work?

It depends if the retainer holes are different for 5/16" (Hemi) vs 3/8" (wedge) valve stems. Or they were designed to be the same, and the keepers make up the difference. The factory installed heights of the springs should work.
