426 Hemi main cap question

I have a set of main caps from a 426 Hemi that I suspect are from either a '64-'65 race Hemi or the '68 Barracuda/Dart cars. On the outer cross bolt bosses, caps #2, #3 and #4 are drilled and tapped vertically....maybe for a windage tray? I know the '66 and later Street Hemi main caps didn't have this attachment method.

Any ideas on what these are? Thanks!

Not sure if these were drilled for a saddle or like you said possibly windage tray, what i can tell you if they are the early nodular iron caps they have a very high rate of failure from cracking on the 65,66 motors. Mopar trashed these caps in 67. Beware of this.

Could direct oiling? There were several different oil systems not just Milodon. One I think one increased cross bolt size and drill cross bolts, not sure about that. They drill the cap from bottom and put fittings and ran oil threw the caps.
On the nodular caps think they stopped in very early 66. Have a 1/19/66 block cast steel caps. Think there's a casting parting line on the nodular caps.

Those caps are a real pain to get out of an assebled engine. Maybe they drilled them for pulling with a slide hammer or they installed bolts in them to put a pry bar under them.

If the hole is tapped in the middle,it is for the slide hammer to get the suckers out! They could be used for a scraper or baffle but they would tend to crack.

If you ran long threaded bolts in, they would hit the web and lift the caps like jack posts. Maybe that was the idea but center drilled and tapped would definitely be the better location.

Here's what I'm talking about......you can see the drilled/tapped holes on the 2,3,4 caps. This block is a '64.

For taking the caps off. Put a bolt on each side and use pry-bars under the heads to pull the cap out.

I’m not seeing it. Looks like old paint to me. It’s definitely has been stroker clearanced.

No block, just have the caps. Pretty sure these with holes are specific to the '64-'65 Hemis as the '66 and laters don't have them. I'm 99% sure what block these came from.
