426 wedge

1965 if you are talking about the Street Wedge. Possible late 64 but I've seen them most often 65. Some hung around early 66, very rare. 1964 for the Max Wedge 426.
Ma Mopar used what ever was left over. Mopar Collector's Guide had a article on a 66 Coronet 426 street wedge.

63 for the MW. 64 for the SW. Possibly 63 as well?

I owned a 64 426/365 Street Wedge back then that was definitely
factory.

1964 and 1965 for 365 h.p. Street Wedge. Cars with it also had front sway bar and 11" brakes.
1963 and early 1964 for 426 Max Wedge; replaced with 426 Hemi in late 1964.

Correct on equipment!
As I recall from 60 years ago it had a bolt on Front Sway bar
rather the mounting to the control arms.
It was a 600+ dollar option and really hardly any faster than a 383!
For that kind of money back then invested in modifying a 383 you could
go way faster.
The carb and intake were very restrictive and the heads not great!
My car was a Red Belvedere hardtop with no other options.
It almost immediately got a 426 Max Wedge put in it.
In 1977 I sold it to Ray Christian out of Ohio at the Winternationals
and retired from Drag Racing as the racing had nearly put me in poor
house.
Later it was raced very successfully by my close friend Gregg
Luneauk and got to the finals at Winternationals and lost a close
heads up final to another one of my good friendsw and mentor Don Little
in his Hemi Cuda.

Trivia = Mr Norm special order a bunch of 1966 Dodge Coronets
with the 426/365 Street Wedge and the were produced.

However, they are not NHRA class legas as the only produced about
a 100 of them iif my elderly memory serves. They needed 500 back then to
be consider Factory available.

As I seem to recall my 64 426/365 had a Bolt on factory sway bar instead of
special control arms.

Early sway bar bolted to the front corners of the K-frame and the outer ends clamped to the front strut rods. I added one to my 1964 Polara. So, your elderly memory seems to be working fine, John. I have the same affliction.

Is that the red Belvedere that ended up in alberta?

I am not sure as Gregg had three at the very same time and same color.

Ahh ok I think I met him at MATS in 2014
..no maybe was 2011..

Darcy with two of the red Plymouths just beat me by .01
in Phoenix. He treed me and drove a good race!
He is a friend of mine and if he let me inspect
his car I would how if it was my old car. Most Stock/SS racer
will not appreciate you looking at their cars and I hate to ask.

Haha yep, he'd let me look at it. Because I probably don't know what I'm looking at!

The rear fenderwells in trunk were cut and spread slightly on the inside by the
rear fender where it does not show from anywhere. You have to
put you finger down between the fendwells and inside of the fenders.
I doubt that it was every changed unless you had a tech that was tipped
off about it.
