440: Best roots style blower

Who are the best (and your favorite) places/people making roots blowers for a 440? Doesn’t seem to be very many at all.

X2 on The Blower Shop. A friend has a BDS on an early Hemi, after 10 yrs they didn't want to do any customer service or updates. TBS was very helpful and offered rotors in 90* and 120* twist.

I'm running a BDS 8-71 with a TBS 4" spacer. Dealt with both companies with no problems or hassles so far. Both were very helpful with advice on motor build.

With a street car just about anything will work. My small block has a prehistoric 6V 71 Dyers unit. The lower clearance is pretty loose. It's mounted on a modified single 4 barrel intake. It'll still run 11.0x@122, 3880lbs thru the mufflers. The motor is very mild. 344", home ported factory iron heads, .550 solid cam, 8-1 compression.

(IIRC) at the time they were the only people still
(Now a few do, INDY is one)
making a blower manifold, with a pop-off valve for a RB/B engines
'not the burst plates'
(if you ever run it in the cold you will wish you had one)
But all the above have or had great blowers/roots style
may different rotor angles & sizes etc.

most all of the org. founders are no longer with us
either family or another ownership completely etc. now

I used to use a shitload of Mert Littlefield blowers (top-notch)
they were in SoCal too, so my shipping
or my ability to go down & pick stuff up was way easier, & cheaper
over the years, 6:71-8:71 to 10:71-14:71,
from 10% undriven to 50% overdriven in either 8mm or 3"
they ain't cheap, don't even attempt to bargain shop there
mostly for racing, Methanol (or Nitro) 'lots of boost',
not much streetcar wise, take a lot of power to spin them
hard anodized cases & timed/hardened gears, Hi-helix rotors &/or Teflon strips,
better billet materials
but it was/still is the quality stuff

I have a 1071 BDS on my HEMI. If I were to do it again I would go with the blower shop as their case is billet and polishes up much better and choice on rotor twist.

I can never live in the now.. i squirrel my money away and go as cheap as possible.. i think growing up broke sticks with you through life Am considering throwing down my CC for a 408 or maybe a 400>500 stroker though.. i don't need more than 500hp for stoplight fun

Yep I know what you mean. My GTX has the 350hp 440, I’d love to at least put a little more cam in it, get at least 375hp. But it does burnouts the way it is, and it’s loud, that’s all I really need.

A blower would be nice too, I’ll just drool over y’all’s, if y’all don’t mind.
