Does anyone know what the stock 440 engines from the seventies motorhomes had for HP from the factory? Just a ballpark number, Thanks {probly very little lol) 200+?

Yes they were some what lower with the compression drop.
But remember the HP ratings after 72 went to net instead of the previous gross rates .
The low compression 440s if in good sound condition can really be brought to life with a few up grades .

like heads and a cam??
Anything will help. Personally I'd start with the easy stuff; headers, intake, minimum 750cfm carb, and a good working ignition. You'll need to be careful with cam selection though with the low compression, or you can turn it into a tuning nightmare with poor driving performance. Yes higher-flowing heads are a plus, but that involves considerably more cost and labor as there's quite a bit more to them than just bolting them on (possible machine work, valvetrain setup, etc).
And, gears and converter will wake a car up even with a so-so performing engine, just something to keep in mind...

Myself, I didn't swap heads on my 76 440.
Lapped the valves and a new set of seals, all the guides felt good. My 440 was just aprox 40 000 miles and very clean inside.
I went with a small cam , headers , aluminum intake and now have a thermo quad carb tuned in good, electronic ignition and a 3.23 sure grip.
No dragster for sure but a ton of fun and I
can buy gas anyplace I want.
Not for everyone but got me up and running. Plus I can always add heads and some pistons later on down the road if I wish.
