What is the benefit of the external oil suction line versus a stock style set-up? Reason I ask is my oil pump with external line went bad, need a new one, the stock style pumps don't have this port for the external hose. Any help or pics would be greatly appreciated.

The external line feeds the upper and lower end of the oil pump rotor, for more volume. Only the upper part of the rotor is fed oil from the internal block passage when there is not an external feed line. Are you talking about a Milodon type? I just used my stock pump and the external Milodon feed lines when I had one. Send some pics if you can.

I'd say less restriction on the inlet side of the pump, which is a good thing at high RPM.
