Hi folks, I'm new to the site. Anyway, I'm getting close to swapping out the 400 that came in my 78 Cordoba, for a freshly rebuilt 440 out of a 68 Chrysler 300.(C-body) Is the oil pan from the 300 going to work in the Cordobas chassis ? Thanks in advance.

I was hoping to use the 440 pan, so I wouldn't have to dissasemble the 400. both pans look like center sump units.

Are the numbers on the pans the same???????????????????????????????????

The pan on the Cordoba 400 will likely be a 971 and the 440 from the 68 C-body may be a 187. If this is the case the 187 may touch the ISO k-frame... the sump on the 971 pan is about 0.5 to 1 inch shorther at the front. I had a nice chrome 187 pan I wanted to use on the 383 in my 74 Charger but the front of the pan would not quite clear the stupid ISO k-frame so I had to stick with my beat up 971 pan.

There is a chart at the bottom of this page;
