Anyone have a list of the stock jets, springs, rods and pump jet.
and where to get replacements?
I have worn 16-575 rods
primary jets 120-382 or 392?
secondary are 498 or 489?
pump jet squirter is 339?
Carb is a F8 4618S

Also, what is the best performance settings for a stock/mild cam 69 440?
 
My friend gets his parts from here, he restores a lot of classic cars. Unfortunately chevy and fords. :lol:

The Carter 4618S AVS carburetor, originally equipped on the 1969 440 high performance engine with automatic transmission and air conditioning, stock components are as follows:
  • Metering rods: 16-575
    • Economy step size: 0.065"
    • Mid step size: 0.062"
    • Power step size: 0.053"
  • Primary jets: 120-501 (size = 0.101")
  • Secondary jets: 120-395 (size = 0.095")
  • Accelerator pump discharge nozzle, or pump jet: 48-339 (size=0.033")
  • Needle & seat: 25-860
This AVS, stamped F8, was built in June 1968.

If you can find one, Carter Strip Kits for the AVS, which contain a variety of rods, jets, and needle&seats, are as follows:
  • 10-106, early kit
  • 10-202, later kit
Mike's Carburetor Parts and QuadraJet Parts have jets, rods, springs, etc. for the AVS. QuadraJet Parts has the accelerator pump discharge nozzles.

I’ve seen different cfm’s specs for this carb. 600 to 850. I’d like to think it’s at least 750.
Any information on the CFM?
 
The Pump jet is 48-339 and .035". Not what was posted. Orig Seats are 25-1032 which are .1015" with slotted side. 25-860 will work but beware newer kits have seat that are .110 or up which means more fuel pressure force against needle and richer fuel level unless float is adjusted higher to compensate.
 
Little hard to read but this out of the 1971 race bulletin. I don't use these specs for my 4618.

I am providing info from Carter Spec sheets for OEM as delivered, not the race bulletins modified info.
 
OP says stock/mild cam which I interpret as stock except for mild cam. I would start with 0.101" pri jets & 0.098" sec jets. 0.101" n/seats Use this chart to reset float level if n/seat size is different.

Back in the day chrysler would put on "clinics" at dealerships. They were usually a part of the Sox&Martin or Landy teams. I remembering going to these and how the average guy was trying to squeeze a little more out of their stockers. Anyhow, part of the performance tune-up tips was the 16-575 rod as the preferred choice and i still bieve it is. Edelbrock has a 65-52 rod that can be used as a substitute but the old factory 3 step rods are probably the best.

I have the original 4618 on the 440 in my 69 r/t. I've been all over the map with this thing trying to get it to idle and drive smooth. It's been a challenge. Performance is very good with the stock intake but it's a stinky driver. Currently i use a .1025 primary jet with 16-575 rods, factory step-up springs, .098 secondary jets, .110 needle and seats with the original large floats. Those old avs carbs are good carbs.

I noticed the rods are worn, at the 90°.
I haven’t found any available.
