More AVS/AFB Rod Questions

Bob sadly passed away last year.
Original jetting for 4618 carb is #575 rod. Steps are 065/062/053. Pri jet 0.101", sec jet 0.095".
These Carter AVS carbs used three step pri rods, which reqd a taller pri jet. Edel used two step rods, like the Carter AFB, & short pri jets. Sec jets for both carbs are short. The short jets between Carter & Edel are interchangeable
Thank you, Sorry to hear about Bob

There is a good chart published by Raso Enterprises on the internet concerning the Edelbrock metering rods.
It shows all the available part numbers and power/economy sizes.
I used Edelbrock jets and metering rods in my AVS to tune it and they work fine. My carb had the flat Edelbrock step up piston access plates as opposed to the raised original AVS ones.
It may be better in fact to use these because the 3 step AVS metering rods are around 80 thousands longer than the Edelbrock ones.

The Edel rod numbering easy & logical. A 73/47 rod has a 0.073" cruise step & a 0.047" power step. I would rather decipher the Da Vinci code than decipher the Carter met rod code....
