$500 1970 Charger

A guy over on Dodge Charger.com took a body like that, bought a modern Chrysler 300 with a 5.7 Hemi in it,cut the body off the Chrysler 300,and cut the wasted belly out of the Charger and put the Charger body on the 300 Chassis. He was driving it around three weeks later. He had a thread on there showing how he put the car together. It was a cool low dollar build that made a Charger carcus into a driver.

Looks like that Super Be that Birdsong turned into a racecar on Youtube. That was a total heap but he built a frame and got it running. Its still a heap but a cool one..
He calls it Super-BEEter.. LOL

In a couple of years this car will be all that's left to buy. Bob H

However in this particular case, that would be like skinning a moose and throwing the skin around a VW Beetle.

There's not a lot of Charger to do much with that will last more than a few miles.

As long as the roof, and door jambs are intact, the rest can be replaced with AMD sheetmetal.

Pretty much. I was surprised how quickly the guy took a carcus like that and made a running car out of it. Most Charger project cars need quarters,a tailpanel,a dutchpanel, rear valence and corners. Those pieces with the 300 donor and you have a running driving Charger restomod on a modern chassis. The guy said he paid $2500 for the 300. A modern Charger would work too.

Pete, even in those tiny pictures, that car was really hacked. There is a FBBO member that has done those “body- over” builds and his are excellent. He posted at dc. Com under the name “Stevearino” or something like that. His work is impeccable.
The guy that you’re referring to admitted to just throwing it together.
Still, with skill, it can be done.
The car the OP here has could be saved but it sure will take some fortitude and money.

They saved this one. The guy on DC.com, did just throw that one together, but he put a Charger back on the road. The guy Stevearino is a professional Nascar fabricator who does amazing work!

Guess it comes down to how badly you want a 70 Charger. Given the absolutely stupid prices being asked for G2 chargers these days, perhaps a complete rebuild is a deal. Sure it needs everything but you starting at $500, conversely you could by one of the many POS chargers for sale for $20+K and still have to rebuild a good majority of it. I think in the end you would be almost in the same place but at least with this one it would be a brand new car underneath.

how does one get in contact with “stevearino” on that other site?

btw dc.com takes you to a dc comics site, so i assume its really dodge charger.com, i’m interested in a body over conversion, wondering about the price.

Those original vin plates, radiator support ETC and the fender tags are the gold in them thar junkers.
