fired up the 511 yesterday and ran the cam in. just gotta put the inner springs back in and go for a ride. She sounds good and healthy. I'll try to find time to update my roadrunner 8.4 thread with some pics soon. Hopefully get some dragstip data too this summer once work slows down.

Nothing looks better then a 6 pack that's for sure. Sure miss the sound when their all open. Looks fantastic to me

Wow that looks great ! You should be proud to show that bad boy off. I also run the PCV setup on my 493 street eng as you can see. Ron

I also broke my cam in on just the outer springs. Then I used this tool to put the inner springs back in and boy this tool works great. Ron

Ron this engine is similar to yours, has basically same cam except down 1 size. I think the road runner prob needs a little more torque, she's a fat bird.. I did chose to go a big standard port window so I could keep the 6 barrel though

I have one a buddy made for me. Works great!
Thats a very nice tool and looks like it works basically the same as mine. What I like about mine is you can run the allen head screw down to push the spring down and then use both hands to remove the keepers as you dont have to hold a tool with one hand. I think your Runner is going to run strong with your combo. Good luck with it. Ron

Update: This son of a bitch flat runs. This car has ran 11.50-60's with the 440 and felt real stable steet & strip. It's ABSOULTLY out of control with the 511. It tries to drive its self right off the road when the outboards open from a slow roll. Gonna be a lot of fun!

I love the torque of the stroker engines. Just the other day I was coming off the highway onto a 50 mph road and a newer Charger did not want to let me in as I had my blinker on to come over and he came up fast not wanting to let me in. Well I was doing about 35 to 40 mph and decided to just blast on by him and I punched it some and just left it in third gear. No need to downshift as it went like a rocket with the torque of the 493 ! Your gonna find out with that 511 many times you will smoke right past cars and wont even need to downshift at all. Ron

Yep. If a little is good...........a lot is better!

Which springs are you running? And this may sound like a stupid question but I'm assuming it is a standard practice to remove the inner spring to break the cam in? I was going to pull a used set of singles off of some heads I have laying around...
Motor looks great btw!

Trickflow (pac) 928 springs. Set up at 150# on the seat. Yes, I always remove the inners for break in. It's a lot less work than rebuilding the engine after you wipe a cam. I also had this cam nitrided and am running edm's. If it goes flat I'll be going back to solid rollers...

My inner springs were left off also to break in the cam. Its good insurance and as 68 Hemi GTS pointed out much is much less work then replacing the cam later. Ron
