Can any one tell me what the timing should be a stock 2008 528 hemi crate engine? It has a cross ram with 2 holley carbs
just asking cause once I get my temp over 170 its very hard to start, like it turns over very slow and does not want to. Acts like its hot.
Thanks Jeff

This doesn't sound like timing. Sounds more like your starter cable is overheating. Heat = resistance.
check to ensure the positive cable is routed well away from your exhaust manifold/header. You may have to wrap it with heat shield.

Total Timing for a Hemi should be no more than 32 degree's. Get yourself a start retard box from MSD and it will limit the start dvance to eliminate kick back and help with slow crank a great deal. Once you get above 800 rpms the unit will swith back to 12 degrees at start up. MSD box can adjust timing 6 degrees during start. Then cover your starter with aluminium backed heat shield and also check cables for proper connections.

Ok I will set timing at 30 and see what I get. Right now when motor gets 180 and I turn it off it wants to keep running. and then when I try to start it is very slow to turn over. Hope this helps .

Thank you for the help.

I never new a starter would act like that.
The cable is fine and does not get near the heat. I have stock exhaust not headers on my 528 Hemi

My 528 liked 33 degrees best while testing on dyno.
