I am in the process of fixing up a 1969 charger. Currently has a 340, I have a 440 (1970)block that is getting rebuilt now and I am in the process of trying to find a 6 pack set up for it. Car will have automatic trans. Those six pack set ups are $$$$$ and I do not want buy any practice parts. What do I need to know??
Will any 440 6 pack intake fit that block?
Is there a difference between manual and auto transmission for the carbs?
Mechanical verses vac?

any advice is appreciated

There's a complete new set up for an auto on this site as we speak. Check the threads of the past few days.

i have a six pack on my 440 GTX - it's not original to the car as its a 68 and the six pack didn't come along until 69 for the RR, GTX, Bees etc.. I believe the intake is the same for all of them - interchangeable. Carbs too. Not sure about your other questions. There are plenty of Six Pack owners in here that can fill in the blanks.

Great way to go though - you won't be sorry.

There are both aluminum and cast iron intakes for the 440 that fit the RB blocks. There are numerous carb combinations that vary by year, auto vs manual and also aftermarket. Check the 6 pack threads for the experts out there. All use vacuum outboard carbs, stick with that.

I seen the 6 pack setup for sale yesterday on the "for sale" forum. The setup was for an auto car with all new items.

don't get lost in the auto/manual thing. the originals had some air bleed differences but i'd bet a dollar to a donut that the repops all the same. either will work. 340 carbs are different.

Just make sure you get 440 carburetors & you're golden. The kickdown linkage for automatics came on the six pack throttle linkage either way (4spd or auto). The carbs aren't that complicated. They're basically like a holley vac secondary carb cut in half with two back halves. All 440+6 intakes will fit all 440's. The main difference in the carbs (auto/manual) is jetting. Mechanical carbs are rare, not factory (maybe Mopar aftermarket), use a mechanical linkage and are a great way to wash out your piston rings on a street motor.....don't use them unless you have a race-only car.
