Is there a different 7-8 qt oil pan for a 65 Coronet?

I am putting a 500cid into my 65' and it has a Hughes 7qt center sump oil pan on it but the steering linkage is rubbing real bad on it! I lifted the motor up until it cleared but it looks like the motor is tilted to much. With a level across the valve cover(front to back) I have to raise the level up about an 1" to make it level. I know this is wrong but what gives:edgy:

The trans is bolted to the engine and is in the stock crossmember.

I had a 440 w/ a 8 qt Milidon pan before this motor and it rubbed slightly but nothing like this if this the answer then I will go back to it but I was thinking that something else is wrong. I put the 500 in the same(stock) location as the 440.

I have the Moroso 8 qt pan on my 63 and it fits great with no mods at all. The eng is in stock location and its a 440 with 906 heads. This is a street car I drive alot and the pan has never hit. You can see in this pic how much room it has. Ron

Not worried about ground clearance. The steering linkage is sawing on the pan. If I lower the motor to level it is basically sitting on the linkage. The sump isn't the issue.

It is best to use a rear sump pan with a steering hole in the pan. Milodon makes a nice steel 8qt or Charlies pans has a couple of choices.

Were running a Charlies Oil Pan that is 6.75" deep. 65 Dodge Coronet 498 Hemi. It still holds 9 qts of oil. Charlie is the man. He told me what mesurements he needed I gave them to him and let me tell you, it looks like we built the car around the pan. It's a work of art.

His number is 330-825-3586.
He told me it takes 10 days and on the 11th day it was setting on the door step.
