Hi I'm going to put a fuel regulator on the car and would like to know where the best spot to mount it would be. I would like it hidden if possible. Thanks
If you're using a mechanical pump the piping gets a bit more routing and would put the regulator on the inner fender skirt down low. Then you would have to double back and run the feed line to the carb exactly where the original line was. If the pump is electrical, you can run the line up where the k-member protrudes under the firewall and mount the regulator on the left side of the firewall and fabricate a cover. I would not recommend the unit to be placed above/behind the engine due to the vast amount of heat. Also the line from the regulator to the carb should be kept as short as possible because the tube of fuel will cause pulsing in the regulator as it tries to respond to pressure changes. I would "up" the line size to 3/8.
Thanks for the quick response. I am running a electric pump that I have hid at the back of the car and was thinking about putting the regulator under the lip that runs on the inner fender near the bottom but the line is still going to be going up to the engine from about the same spot as I have the inline fuel filter. Do you think it would work? It would be nice to hear where some b body guys have mounted.
